The Traditional Choir

The St. Philip Traditional Choir has duties which include singing for the Sunday 9:00 a.m. Masses, September through mid-June.  They also provide music for the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass, the Holy Thursday Mass and the Easter Vigil.  Members of the choir who feel comfortable doing so are also asked to cantor at Masses throughout the year.  We gladly accept help from parishioners who have instrumental talents.

Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:00.  We usually rehearse for one hour, although before Christmas and Easter two hours are sometimes needed.

Anyone of high school age or older will be warmly welcomed as a new member of the choir.  The hours that are spent in rehearsal are rewarded by the time spent in fellowship with each other each Wednesday evening, and in our holiday and summer gatherings at a member’s home, or around picnic tables at a park.

The only requirement you must possess is the joy of making music in a com unity effort to the glory of God!

To join the choir, please come for a rehearsal or talk with David Spencer, the parish director of music.

Contemporary Choir

We are a small group who sing and play contemporary music at the 9:00 am Sunday Masses.  Our members come from varying backgrounds and ages.  Chief qualifications are an average or better voice and a love of singing.  Ability to play a guitar or compatible musical instrument is a plus.  Practices are usually the second Wednesday of the month at 8:00 pm in the church.  For more information, contact one of us before or after Sunday Mass or call  David Spencer, the parish director of music, at 614-237-1671.
